We identified over 40 excess streams on the island and performed a projection study to determine the approximate quantity generated in Puerto Rico.

We narrowed the selection of excess streams to seven with high potential for waste-to-X development through key filters such as the quantity of waste, potential end-products generated, and available markets.

Narrowing further down, we identified sargassum, tires, and plastics as excess streams, filtering based on the desirability, vitality, and feasibility of these materials.
